• Shift Duration: 10-hour shifts; variable scheduling
• Schedule: May include day and overnight coverage with weekend rotations based on census and staffing needs

Job Requirements

• Minimum of 2 years of laboratory experience required
• Prior experience in a smaller acute care hospital setting as a generalist strongly preferred
• Valid California CLS license required
• CA CPT certification required
• Current BLS certification required
• ACSP-CLS certification required
• Previous travel laboratory experience required
• Experience with charting systems required
• Strong knowledge of clinical chemistry, hematology, urinalysis, microscopy, coagulation, and transfusion service
• Ability to work independently in a complex, fast-paced clinical laboratory environment

Responsibilities

• Perform moderate and highly complex laboratory testing across multiple sections, including chemistry, coagulation, hematology, microbiology, urinalysis, and transfusion service
• Review quality control data and take corrective action to ensure accurate, reliable laboratory results
• Calibrate and adjust laboratory equipment according to regulations, procedures, and quality standards
• Serve as a resource to physicians, nurses, and laboratory staff regarding lab reports, critical values, and result interpretation
• Document critical results and support timely communication to licensed clinical staff
• Perform preventive maintenance and non-scheduled maintenance with proper documentation and follow-up
• Support performance improvement initiatives and participate in proficiency testing
• Provide functional guidance and supervision to MLT and CPT staff as needed
• Maintain accuracy, professionalism, and efficiency while supporting patient care across all age groups
