PACU Registered Nurse Travel Job in Artesia, New Mexico
Travel PACU RN opportunity in Artesia, NM: Join a supportive acute care perioperative team and use your Post Anesthesia Care Unit experience in Preop, PACU, Phase 1 & Phase 2 recovery, and discharge.
Join a dynamic perioperative care team in Artesia, New Mexico, where you can bring your PACU Registered Nurse expertise to a supportive acute care environment. This travel nursing assignment offers the chance to work in a close-knit community known for its welcoming atmosphere, Southwest charm, and access to the wide-open beauty of southeastern New Mexico. In this role, you’ll care for patients across Preop, PACU, Phase 1 & 2 recovery, and discharge while supporting a fast-paced surgical services unit.
Job Details
- Position: PACU Registered Nurse (Travel RN)
- Location: Artesia, New Mexico
- Setting: Acute care, Preop/PACU, perioperative nursing
- Assignment Length: 13 weeks
- Start Date: ASAP
- Shift: 8-hour day shifts, Monday through Friday
- Shift Hours: Flexible start between 8:00 AM and 9:00 AM
- Call Requirement: Typically one weeknight call per week and one weekend call per month
- Weekly Hours: 40 hours per week
- Estimated Weekly Pay: $2,200 - $2,310
- Openings: 2
- Charting System: TruBridge / Evident
- Orientation: 1 week with a preceptor
- Dress Code: Blue scrubs provided
Job Requirements
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license
- Minimum of 2 years of PACU nursing or relevant perioperative nursing experience
- Experience with orthopedic cases required
- First-time travelers welcome
- Preferred experience in endoscopy
- Current BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications
- Ability to interpret telemetry strips
- Comfort working in a fast-paced recovery room environment
- Ability to complete required onboarding modules prior to start
Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality nursing care in Preop, PACU, Phase 1, Phase 2, and discharge areas
- Monitor and assess patients recovering from surgery and procedural sedation
- Support patients across a variety of cases including orthopedics, gynecology, urology, pain management, podiatry, general surgery, and endoscopy
- Maintain safe, efficient patient flow with strong attention to recovery standards
- Collaborate with anesthesia, surgical services, and support staff to ensure smooth patient transitions
- Interpret telemetry and respond appropriately to changes in patient condition
- Assist with call coverage and provide flexibility as census and unit needs change
- Deliver compassionate, patient-centered care throughout the perioperative experience
