Med/Surg Registered Nurse – Travel RN Job in Peoria, Illinois

• Start Date: 10/12/2026
• Duration: 13 weeks
• Shift: 12-hour day shifts, 7:00 AM - 7:30 PM
• Hours: 36 hours per week
• Estimated Weekly Pay: $2,130 - $2,250
• Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
• Holiday Requirement: Rotate every other holiday
• Charting System: EPIC
• Orientation: Unit orientation includes preceptor shifts and EPIC/professional onboarding
• Dress Code: Any color scrubs

Job Requirements

• At least 1 year of Med/Surg RN or acute care nursing experience preferred
• Active Illinois RN license or confirmation that the application process has been initiated
• Current BLS certification required
• Strong post-op care experience and solid critical thinking skills
• Ability to work well as part of a team and ask for help when needed
• Good bedside manner and a patient-centered approach
• Comfortable caring for post-op surgical, trauma, and overflow medical patients
• Must be able to adapt to floating as needed within a similar level of care

Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality nursing care to surgical acute and medical-surgical patients
• Manage common needs such as wound care, IV therapy, pain management, drains, NG tubes, and central lines
• Support patients with post-op recovery, dressing changes, and general medical-surgical interventions
• Monitor and respond to patients on telemetry when needed, with support from monitor technicians
• Collaborate closely with charge nurses, house supervisors, PCTs, and the interdisciplinary care team
• Assist with heparin infusion management as needed; no routine titration of other drips required
• Float to comparable units when assigned and provide safe, flexible patient care
• Deliver compassionate care while maintaining strong documentation and workflow in EPIC
