Registered Nurse Job Requirements

• Active Illinois RN license or confirmation that the application process has been initiated
• Current BLS certification
• At least 1 year of recent acute care or medical-surgical nursing experience required
• Ability to care for a broad medical-surgical patient population
• Comfort titrating heparin drips
• Ability to perform and assist with IV starts and use unit resources when needed
• Reliable, adaptable team player with strong communication skills
• Willingness to complete required onboarding items, including requested time off and credentialing documentation

Responsibilities

• Provide direct nursing care to adult medical-surgical patients with varied diagnoses
• Monitor, assess, and respond to changes in patient condition
• Administer medications and manage care for patients with conditions such as GI bleeds, sepsis, CHF, cellulitis, DVT, PE, COVID, and osteomyelitis
• Titrate heparin per protocol and collaborate with the care team as needed
• Support patients who may require oxygen therapy, stable BiPAP/CPAP, or remote telemetry monitoring
• Work collaboratively with charge nurses, crisis support, PCTs, and ancillary services
• Document accurately in EPIC and follow unit protocols and safety standards
• Float to comparable units when needed and maintain flexibility in a dynamic acute care environment
