MRI Technologist Requirements

• 1 year of MRI experience in a hospital setting required
• ARRT certification in Diagnostic Radiology with Advanced MRI Registry (MR) required or obtained within one year of hire
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association required
• Associate degree from an ARRT-accredited program preferred
• Experience with Epic EHR and PACS preferred
• Strong knowledge of MRI safety standards, medical terminology, and patient care practices
• Excellent critical thinking, organization, adaptability, and communication skills

Responsibilities

• Perform MRI procedures according to established protocols and ensure accuracy of patient and procedural data
• Operate MRI systems, coils, gating devices, and related equipment safely and effectively
• Position patients, explain procedures, and provide compassionate care throughout the exam
• Administer IV contrast agents and monitor patients during imaging studies
• Apply MRI safety principles and maintain controlled access to MRI areas
• Troubleshoot equipment issues, report malfunctions, and support quality control activities
• Collaborate with radiologists, physicians, and other departments to support patient care
• Assist with onboarding, student education, staff orientation, and performance improvement initiatives
