Job Requirements

• Minimum of 2 years of phlebotomy, specimen collection, or laboratory experience
• Valid California phlebotomy license and CPT certification required
• Current BLS certification required
• Strong knowledge of venipuncture, blood collection techniques, specimen handling, and processing procedures
• Experience working with neonates, pediatrics, adults, and geriatrics
• Comfortable with data entry, order processing, and laboratory workflow support
• Ability to work efficiently in a variable-shift schedule with weekend coverage
• Strong attention to detail, adaptability, and a positive team-oriented attitude

Responsibilities

• Collect blood specimens accurately and safely from a diverse patient population
• Receive, sort, accession, and process specimens for laboratory testing
• Perform computerized tasks related to patient registration, order entry, and specimen tracking
• Handle basic post-analytic duties such as distributing reports and storing or retrieving specimens
• Maintain a clean, stocked, and safe work area while following quality and safety procedures
• Prioritize specimen collection based on order type, including stat, timed, and routine requests
• Operate basic pre-analytic laboratory equipment and follow proper specimen handling protocols
• Adhere to all privacy, safety, and regulatory standards while delivering excellent patient care
