Job Details

• Setting: Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU)
• Employment Type: Travel Registered Nurse (RN)
• Location: Charlottesville, VA
• Duration: 13 weeks
• Shift Duration: 12-hour nights
• Schedule: Night shift, 3x12-hour schedule; may also work 36 or 48 hours per week
• Weekly Estimated Pay: $2,000 - $2,100
• Start Date: 10/12/2026
• Orientation: 24 hours
• Patient Ratio: Typically 1:2, with 1:1 or 2:1 for higher-acuity assignments
• Weekend Requirement: 3 weekends per 6-week schedule
• Holiday Requirement: Must work 2 of the 3 winter holidays
• Floating: May float to NICU and Acute Care Pediatrics as needed
• Charting System: Epic experience required
• Time Off: Up to 40 hours of RTO per 13-week contract; no additional RTO after offer acceptance

Job Requirements

• Active Registered Nurse license; pending Virginia RN license accepted if in hand by the Wednesday before the start date
• Minimum of 2 years of experience in a similar pediatric critical care or PICU setting
• BLS and PALS certifications required
• Epic EHR experience required
• BSN preferred
• Ability to work nights and function effectively in a high-acuity pediatric critical care environment
• Strong experience with pediatric cardiac and medical critical care patients preferred
• Ability to provide required references and complete submission compliance items

Responsibilities

• Deliver expert nursing care to neonates, infants, children, and adolescents in a high-acuity PICU
• Monitor and manage complex cardiac and medical critical care patients
• Support patients requiring advanced therapies and equipment such as ECMO, VADs, and CRRT
• Perform bedside assessments, interventions, and ongoing clinical surveillance
• Assist with ventilator management, hemodynamic monitoring, chest tube care, central line management, and other specialized PICU skills
• Collaborate closely with respiratory therapy, pharmacy, physical therapy, rapid response teams, and other interdisciplinary partners
• Float within scope of practice to support NICU and Acute Care Pediatrics when needed
• Maintain accurate documentation in Epic and support safe, family-centered care
