• Hours Per Week: 36
• Shift Duration: 12-hour nights
• Setting: Level III NICU with a high-acuity neonatal population
• Patient Population: Neonates and infants

Job Requirements

• Active Registered Nurse license; pending Virginia RN license accepted if in hand by the Wednesday before start
• Minimum 2 years of NICU experience required
• Full-time Level III NICU experience required; Level IV NICU experience strongly preferred
• BLS and NRP required at time of submission
• Dr. Brown's Infant Driven Feeding Certificate required, with pending completion accepted at submission
• Epic charting experience required
• BSN preferred
• Strong experience with ventilator management, IV drips, hemodynamic support, and neonatal procedures
• Ability to float within scope of practice to related areas such as L&D, postpartum, pediatrics, and PICU as needed

Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, evidence-based neonatal nursing care to critically ill neonates and infants in a busy NICU
• Monitor and manage patients requiring high-frequency ventilation, conventional ventilation, CPAP/BiPAP, NIPPV/NIMV, and inhaled nitric oxide
• Assist with admissions, deliveries, newborn transitions, and specialized neonatal interventions
• Administer and titrate IV fluids, drips, and medications while maintaining safe hemodynamic support
• Perform and assist with lab draws, IV placement, line care, wound and drain care, and ostomy management
• Support neonatal procedures including intubation, lumbar puncture, PICC placement, umbilical line placement, and chest tube placement
• Care for infants requiring therapeutic hypothermia, post-operative support, and advanced respiratory interventions
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to deliver coordinated, family-centered care
• Maintain accurate documentation in Epic and uphold unit standards for safe, high-quality patient care
