Job Requirements

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license; Virginia RN license pending may be accepted if in hand by the required deadline
• Minimum of 2 years of recent pediatric nursing or acute care nursing experience
• ACLS, BLS, and PALS certifications required
• Epic charting experience required
• Trauma Level I experience required
• Prior charge nurse experience preferred
• Ability to work nights and provide care in a pediatric surgical and perioperative environment
• Strong clinical judgment, communication skills, and comfort caring for infants, children, and adolescents

Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate preoperative and postoperative care to pediatric patients
• Monitor children recovering from surgery and support extended observation needs up to 23 hours
• Perform ongoing assessments, pain management, and recovery interventions in a pediatric peri-anesthesia setting
• Collaborate with anesthesia, surgery, and multidisciplinary healthcare teams
• Educate patients and families on care plans, recovery expectations, and safe discharge preparation
• Recognize and respond quickly to changes in patient condition
• Maintain safe, family-centered care in a fast-paced pediatric surgical unit
• Float within scope of practice as needed
