• Position: NICU Registered Nurse (Travel RN)
• Location: Charlottesville, VA 22908
• Healthcare Setting: Level III NICU with a high-acuity neonatal patient population
• Assignment Length: 13 weeks
• Start Date: 10/12/2026
• Shift: Night shift, 4x12-hour schedule (7:00 PM - 7:00 AM)
• Hours Per Week: 36
• Estimated Weekly Pay: $1,840 - $1,940
• Orientation: 36 hours
• Weekend Coverage: Required
• Float Requirement: May float within scope to newborn care, postpartum, pediatrics, and PICU as needed

Job Requirements

• At least 2 years of NICU nursing experience required
• Full-time Level III NICU experience required; floating experience does not meet this requirement
• Level IV NICU experience strongly preferred
• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license; pending license accepted with required timeline for start
• Current BLS and NRP certifications required
• Dr. Brown's Infant Driven Feeding Certificate required or pending at submission
• Experience with Epic charting required
• BSN preferred
• Strong clinical background caring for critically ill neonates and infants
• Ability to work required weekend shifts and select winter holidays

Responsibilities

• Provide direct, compassionate patient care to neonates and infants with complex medical needs
• Monitor and manage patients requiring high-frequency ventilation, conventional ventilation, CPAP/BiPAP, and iNO support
• Perform and assist with admissions, IV placement, lab draws, line care, wound/drain care, and ostomy care
• Support hemodynamic stability, IV fluid management, medication calculations, and titration of drips
• Care for patients receiving whole body cooling, post-operative care, and advanced respiratory support
• Assist with procedures such as intubation, lumbar puncture, PICC placement, umbilical line placement, and chest tube placement
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams to support safe, family-centered neonatal care
• Maintain accurate documentation and communicate effectively with the care team using Epic
• Adapt to floating assignments while remaining within scope of practice
