PACU Registered Nurse Travel Contract – Upper Marlboro/Largo, Maryland

• Position: PACU Registered Nurse (Post Anesthesia Care Unit RN)
• Employment Type: Travel Nursing Contract
• Location: Upper Marlboro/Largo, Maryland
• Contract Length: 13 weeks
• Shift Duration: 12-hour day shifts
• Shift Pattern: 3x12s, day shift; every other weekend
• Hours Per Week: 36
• Weekly Estimated Pay: $1,850 - $1,950
• Unit Size: 16 rooms/beds
• Patient Ratio: 1:4
• Patient Population: Pediatrics through geriatrics
• Orientation: 72 hours
• Start Date: 10/12/2026
• Schedule Notes: Holidays as scheduled; floating may be required within scope, including pre-op

Job Requirements

• Active Maryland RN license or Compact RN license at time of submission
• Minimum of 2 years of PACU experience required
• Travel nursing experience required
• Strong first-time traveler candidates may be considered with solid PACU experience
• Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS, NIHSS
• CPI certification may be required for compliance
• Epic experience preferred
• Ability to work in a high-volume, fast-paced recovery room environment
• Comfort with weekend coverage, holiday scheduling, and floating within specialty scope

Responsibilities

• Provide safe, compassionate post-anesthesia care for surgical patients recovering from a wide range of procedures
• Monitor patients closely during Phase I and Phase II recovery in the PACU
• Assess airway, vital signs, pain, sedation level, and overall post-operative status
• Support recovery for orthopedic, neurology, cardiothoracic, vascular, general, thoracic, urology, and gynecology cases
• Administer medications and manage post-op interventions according to protocol
• Communicate effectively with anesthesia, surgery, and interdisciplinary care teams
• Prepare patients for safe discharge or transfer to the next level of care
• Maintain accurate documentation and deliver high-quality patient-centered nursing care
• Float as needed within the specialty, including rotating support with pre-op
