Job Requirements

• Minimum of 2 years of experience in pathology grossing or a related acute care hospital laboratory setting
• Current Pathologists' Assistant (PA) ASCP certification
• Strong knowledge of pre-analytic, analytic, and post-analytic laboratory processes
• Experience handling complex specimen grossing in a high-volume hospital laboratory environment
• Excellent attention to detail, documentation accuracy, and professional communication skills
• Ability to follow laboratory policies, specimen handling standards, and quality procedures

Responsibilities

• Receive, verify, and accession specimens according to laboratory policies and procedures
• Process specimens for testing, interpretation, and submission to other laboratories as needed
• Perform accurate data entry throughout the testing, interpretation, and reporting process
• Perform gross dissection and detailed description of pathology specimens of varying complexity
• Assist with intra-procedural consultations, including gross examinations and frozen sections
• Complete post-mortem examinations, including documentation review, dissection, tissue selection, and gross findings
• Support ancillary processes such as decalcification, photography, and x-ray imaging
• Maintain equipment, supplies, reagents, and pathology materials in an organized and compliant manner
• Troubleshoot issues, participate in quality control, and support validation efforts for new testing methods or platforms
• Work collaboratively with physicians, clients, and lab staff to support outstanding patient care
