• Employment Type: Travel Surgical Assistant Job
• Shift: 3 x 12-hour day shifts
• Call: One call shift per week and one weekend call shift per month; holiday call coverage may be required
• Contract Duration: 13 weeks
• Hours Per Week: 36
• Estimated Weekly Pay: $1,830 - $1,970

• Start Date: November 2, 2026
• End Date: February 1, 2027

Job Requirements

• At least 2 years of Surgical Assistant experience required
• Orthopedic surgical experience required
• DaVinci robotic surgery experience is a plus
• Travel healthcare experience preferred
• High school diploma or equivalent required
• Completion of a Surgical Assistant Program required
• Certified Surgical First Assistant (CSFA) or equivalent certification through NBSTSA, NSAA, or NCCSA required
• BLS certification preferred upon hire and required prior to direct patient care
• Virginia registration required for those practicing in Virginia
• Strong attention to detail, communication skills, and ability to work under pressure in the OR

Responsibilities

• Assist in surgical procedures under the supervision of the provider in accordance with facility policies and procedures
• Perform surgical hand scrub, gowning, and gloving according to policy
• Function as first or second assist on assigned cases
• Support sterile technique and function in the scrub role as needed
• Prepare the operating room by arranging equipment, supplies, and instruments for each case
• Assist with patient positioning, skin prep, draping, and Foley catheterization as assigned
• Support intraoperative tasks such as suctioning, retraction, wound irrigation, and suture management
• Assist with wound closure, dressing application, and safe handling of specimens and instruments
• Participate in room turnover, case preparation, and cleanup protocols
• Maintain patient safety, privacy, and infection prevention standards at all times
• Take call as required and contribute to a collaborative, high-performing surgical team
