The unit supports labor and delivery, postpartum, newborn care, and newborn stabilization for transport, with an average annual birth volume of approximately 225.

• Shift: 3 x 12-hour day shifts (07:00–19:00)
• Schedule: Every other weekend
• Hours per Week: 36
• Weekly Estimated Pay: $2,510–$2,640
• Orientation: 40 hours
• Weekend Coverage: Required
• Float/Call: Occasionally based on census needs

Job Requirements

• Minimum of 2 years of recent Labor & Delivery RN experience required
• Active California Registered Nurse license
• Current ACLS, BLS, NRP, and fetal monitoring certifications
• Experience with labor, postpartum, newborn care, and maternal health preferred
• Strong clinical judgment and ability to work independently in a rural birth center setting
• Comfort with common L&D procedures, patient education, and bedside nursing care
• Ability to collaborate effectively with physicians and interdisciplinary care teams

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing care for patients in labor, postpartum, and newborn services
• Monitor fetal status and support safe labor progression using fetal monitoring equipment
• Assist with vaginal deliveries, cesarean section recovery, and newborn stabilization
• Support antepartum, postpartum, and triage assessments with compassionate, patient-centered care
• Perform newborn assessments, circumcision care support, phototherapy support, and screening exams
• Administer medications and treatments such as magnesium sulfate, pitocin, and IV therapy as ordered
• Educate and support parents in breastfeeding, newborn care, and discharge teaching
• Collaborate with the care team to maintain high-quality outcomes in a supportive Family Birth Center environment
