Job Requirements

• Minimum of 3 years of nursing experience required
• Recent specialty experience within the last 12 months preferred and expected
• Pediatric nursing experience required
• Strong background in surgical services, including pre-op and Phase II recovery
• Active Registered Nurse license in New Jersey or a Compact state
• Current BLS certification required
• Current ACLS certification required
• Current PALS certification required
• Epic EMR experience preferred
• Must be comfortable working in a team-based ambulatory care environment

Responsibilities

• Perform thorough pre-op assessments and review patient histories and physicals
• Support Phase II recovery and post-operative patient monitoring
• Obtain and document operative and procedural consent as appropriate
• Provide discharge education, follow-up instructions, and patient support
• Start and maintain IVs and assist with medication reconciliation
• Obtain 12-lead EKGs/ECGs and interpret lab values within scope
• Monitor pain levels and provide appropriate pain management support
• Perform urinary catheterization when clinically indicated
• Maintain infection prevention practices and use appropriate isolation precautions/PPE
• Collaborate closely with the surgical team to ensure safe, efficient patient flow
• Be adaptable to facility needs and floating expectations within the assigned network
