Job Requirements

• Minimum 3 years of operating room RN experience required
• Current Illinois RN license required
• BLS required
• CNOR required
• Travel nurse experience required
• Level I trauma experience required
• Strong general OR and trauma background required
• Experience supporting complex surgical case types preferred, including general surgery, neurology, orthopedics, plastics, transplant, urology, and trauma
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-volume surgical environment
• Must be comfortable with on-call and weekend expectations
• Cerner experience preferred

Responsibilities

• Provide skilled perioperative nursing care in the operating room
• Support a wide range of surgical services across all service lines except cardiovascular
• Circulate and assist with complex surgical procedures while maintaining patient safety and sterile technique
• Support trauma and emergency cases as needed in a high-acuity setting
• Prepare the OR environment, equipment, and supplies for procedures
• Maintain infection control, radiation safety, and universal protocol standards
• Handle specimens, blood products, and patient care documentation accurately
• Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesia providers, and the surgical team to ensure efficient case flow
• Respond effectively to urgent situations, including code response and special safety precautions
• Contribute to excellent patient outcomes in a busy acute care surgical environment
