Overview

This Med/Surg Tele Registered Nurse position supports a 27-bed general medicine unit with a diverse patient population and a strong interdisciplinary support network. You will provide quality nursing care to patients with respiratory, cardiac, renal, endocrine, infectious, and other complex medical needs. Job Details

• Position: Med/Surg Tele Registered Nurse
• Employment Type: Travel Nurse Assignment
• Location: Charlottesville, Virginia
• Shift: 12-hour nights, 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM
• Hours: 36 hours per week
• Duration: 13 weeks
• Weekly Estimated Pay: $1,800-$1,890
• Schedule Notes: Every other weekend required; must work 2 of the 3 winter holidays
• Patient Population: Adults and geriatrics
• Unit Type: General medicine / telemetry

Job Requirements

• Active Registered Nurse license required; pending state license may be accepted with timely issuance before start
• Minimum of 1 year of Med/Surg Tele, telemetry nursing, or acute care nursing experience required
• Epic charting experience required
• BLS required
• ACLS preferred
• Travel nursing experience required
• Ability to care for patients with multiple medical diagnoses and telemetry monitoring needs
• Strong clinical judgment, communication, and teamwork skills

Responsibilities

• Deliver safe, compassionate nursing care to adult and geriatric patients on a busy medical-surgical telemetry unit
• Monitor telemetry, assess cardiac rhythms, and intervene appropriately for changes in patient condition
• Administer medications and manage therapies including insulin drips, heparin infusions, and other unit-specific protocols as ordered
• Provide care for patients with respiratory illness, renal conditions, diabetes, sepsis, cellulitis, infections, heart failure, sickle cell disease, and cystic fibrosis
• Support procedures and treatments such as chest tube management, tracheostomy care, wound vacs, and PCA pump use
• Collaborate closely with interdisciplinary partners including respiratory therapy, physical therapy, pharmacy, radiology, social services, and rapid response teams
• Maintain accurate documentation in Epic and follow established nursing standards and unit protocols
• Promote a positive patient experience while delivering efficient, high-quality care in a fast-paced acute care environment
