Travel Nursing Job Details

• Setting: 12-bed Med/Surg Telemetry unit
• Employment Type: Travel Registered Nurse assignment
• Shift: 12-hour night shifts, 3 shifts per week
• Weekly Hours: 36 hours per week, with a 48-hour option noted in the unit details
• Assignment Length: 13 weeks
• Estimated Weekly Pay: $1,800 - $1,890
• Patient Ratio: 1:4
• Schedule Notes: Every other weekend required; must work 2 of 3 winter holidays; block scheduling cannot be guaranteed
• Start Date: October 12, 2026
• Location: Charlottesville, VA
• Charting System: Epic experience required

Registered Nurse Job Requirements

• Active Registered Nurse license; Virginia license pending may be accepted if in hand by the Wednesday before start date
• Minimum of 1 year of recent nursing experience required
• BLS certification required
• Epic charting experience required
• Experience with a 1:4 patient ratio preferred
• BSN preferred
• Ability to care for adult and geriatric patients in a Med/Surg Telemetry setting
• Ability to float within scope of practice as needed
• Flu vaccine required with no exemptions

Responsibilities

• Provide attentive, compassionate nursing care to medical-surgical and telemetry patients
• Monitor cardiac rhythms and recognize changes in patient condition promptly
• Administer medications and manage therapies such as heparin protocols and insulin drips
• Support care for patients with respiratory illness, renal disease, diabetes, sepsis, cellulitis, heart failure, sickle cell disease, and cystic fibrosis
• Deliver safe, evidence-based patient care while maintaining accurate documentation in Epic
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams including respiratory therapy, physical therapy, pharmacy, radiology, and rapid response resources
• Assist with special procedures and equipment such as chest tubes, telemetry monitoring, tracheostomy care, wound vacs, PCA pumps, and bladder scanners
• Follow unit policies, float expectations, and scheduling requirements to support smooth patient care operations
