• Schedule: 12-hour rotating shifts
• Hours: 36 hours per week
• Weekend Requirement: 3 weekends per 6-week schedule
• Holiday Requirement: Must work 2 of the 3 winter holidays
• Float Requirement: May float to NICU and Acute Care Pediatrics based on staffing needs
• Orientation: 24 hours
• Charting System: Epic experience required
• Start Date: October 12, 2026

Job Requirements

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license; pending Virginia license accepted with license in hand by the Wednesday before the start date
• Minimum of 2 years of pediatric critical care, PICU, or closely related pediatric nursing experience
• BLS and PALS certifications required
• Epic charting experience required
• Experience with high-acuity pediatric patients strongly preferred
• Ability to work rotating days and nights, or straight nights as assigned
• Willingness to float within scope of practice to NICU or Acute Care Pediatrics
• BSN preferred
• Strong communication skills, clinical judgment, and comfort in a fast-paced critical care environment

Responsibilities

• Provide expert nursing care to neonates, infants, children, and adolescents in a high-acuity PICU setting
• Monitor and manage critically ill pediatric patients with complex cardiac and medical diagnoses
• Support advanced pediatric critical care therapies, including ventilator management, arterial lines, central lines, sedation monitoring, and vasoactive medications
• Collaborate with physicians, respiratory therapy, IV teams, pharmacy, radiology, and other interdisciplinary partners
• Perform comprehensive patient assessments, administer medications, and respond quickly to changes in patient condition
• Maintain accurate documentation in Epic and uphold unit standards for safety, quality, and patient-centered care
• Adapt to staffing needs by floating to NICU or Acute Care Pediatrics as needed
• Support a team-focused environment that promotes excellent outcomes for pediatric patients and their families
