Travel PICU Registered Nurse Job in Charlottesville, Virginia

• Duration: 13 weeks
• Weekly Hours: 36 hours per week, typically 3 twelve-hour shifts
• Shift Duration: 12-hour rotating shifts; straight nights or rotating schedules may be available
• Weekly Estimated Pay: $2,000-$2,100
• Patient Ratios: 1:1 to 1:2 depending on acuity
• Weekend Coverage: Every other weekend and 3 weekends per 6-week schedule
• Holiday Commitment: Must work 2 of 3 winter holidays
• Floating: May be required to float to NICU and Acute Care Pediatrics based on staffing needs
• Charting System: Epic

Job Requirements

• Active Registered Nurse license; pending Virginia RN license accepted, with license in hand by the Wednesday before start
• Minimum 2 years of pediatric critical care or PICU nursing experience
• BLS and PALS required
• Epic experience required
• Experience with complex pediatric cardiac and medical cases preferred
• BSN preferred
• Ability to work rotating weekends, holiday coverage, and a high-acuity pediatric patient population

Responsibilities

• Deliver exceptional nursing care to neonates, infants, children, and adolescents in a high-acuity PICU
• Monitor and manage critically ill pediatric patients, including those with cardiac, medical, post-op, and trauma-related needs
• Support advanced therapies and equipment such as ECMO, VADs, and CRRT when indicated
• Provide safe care involving ventilator management, vasoactive medications, arterial line monitoring, and sedation support
• Collaborate closely with respiratory therapy, pharmacy, radiology, social services, and other interdisciplinary healthcare team members
• Document accurately in Epic and respond quickly to changes in patient condition
• Float within scope of practice to NICU or Acute Care Pediatrics as needed
