Experienced Infection Control Leader Needed for Community Hospital

What You'll Do:

• Oversee and implement the hospital’s infection control program, ensuring the prevention and control of infections across all departments.
• Analyze surveillance data to identify trends and develop corrective actions in collaboration with hospital leadership.
• Lead investigations and disseminate findings, recommending effective solutions to optimize safety.
• Develop and maintain policies that align with CDC, Department of Health, OSHA, and TJC standards.
• Serve as a subject matter expert, providing consultation to staff, physicians, and community partners.
• Manage the infection control team, ensuring ongoing competency and development.
• Collaborate with hospital committees, and participate in strategic planning to foster a culture of safety and compliance.

Required Skills:

• Minimum of 5-10 years’ progressive experience in infection control, infectious disease, or epidemiology.
• Supervisory or administrative experience in infection prevention.
• Strong knowledge of CMS, NHSN, NYCDOH, and NYSDOH reporting guidelines.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills, capable of working across all hospital levels.
• Proficiency in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Outlook).
• RN or clinician background preferred, but not mandatory if all qualifications are met.
• CIC (Infection Control Certification) essential.
• Master’s degree in a health-related field (MPH, MS, MSN) required.

Nice to Have Skills:

• Experience working with Meditech EMR or similar hospital systems.
• Familiarity with Joint Commission standards.
• Previous experience in community hospital settings; ability to adapt in resource-limited environments.

Preferred Education & Experience:

• Master’s degree in a health-related field.
• 5-10 years’ supervisory or administrative experience in infection control.
• CIC certification is highly preferred.
