Job Details

• Position: Cardio Thoracic ICU Registered Nurse
• Role Type: Travel RN / Travel Nurse Job
• Setting: Cardiac ICU / CTICU
• Location: Chesapeake, VA 23320
• Assignment Length: 13 weeks with possible extension
• Shift Duration: 12-hour nights (19:00 - 07:30)
• Schedule Options: 3x12s or 4x12s
• Estimated Weekly Pay: $2,020 - $2,130
• Orientation: 24 hours
• Patient Ratio: Typically 1:1 to 1:2
• Weekend/Holiday Requirements: Every other weekend, floating, and holidays as assigned; two of the three winter holidays are required
• Additional Notes: 48-hour contracts may be available; block scheduling cannot be accommodated
• Local Candidates: Applicants living within 50 miles are not eligible

Job Requirements

• Minimum 2 years of recent experience in CVICU or CTICU
• Active Virginia RN license or compact RN license in hand at time of submission
• Proficiency with Epic charting system required
• Current BLS, ACLS, and NIH Stroke Scale certifications required
• Strong neuro experience required, including post-brain surgery care and EVD/ventriculostomy exposure
• Experience with critical care drips, ventilator management, and advanced hemodynamic monitoring
• Ability to work in a high-acuity cardiac ICU with step-down overflow patients
• No license hits or background hits permitted
• Must pass required screening and testing processes prior to start
• Fit testing limitations apply; PAPR is not available

Responsibilities

• Provide safe, high-quality care to adult critical care and step-down patients
• Monitor and manage complex cardiac, neurological, and multisystem conditions
• Administer blood products and maintain central line, PICC, and arterial line care
• Titrate cardiac and vasoactive drips according to protocol
• Care for ventilated patients and manage BiPAP, CPAP, and high-flow nasal cannula support
• Interpret dysrhythmias and ABGs, and assist with advanced cardiac monitoring
• Support patients recovering from CABG, cardiac cath/interventions, MI, CHF, stroke, and other critical cardiac events
• Manage CRRT/CVVHD, IABP, Impella, and other advanced ICU therapies as needed
• Maintain infection prevention, isolation, and wound care standards
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to deliver exceptional patient care in a demanding ICU environment
