Job Details

• Weekly Estimated Pay: $1,980 - $2,080
• Setting: ED Observation Unit / Emergency Department
• Schedule: 3x12-hour day shifts, 7:00 AM - 7:00 PM
• Shift Duration: 12 hours
• Contract Length: 13 weeks
• Hours Per Week: 36
• Weekend Coverage: Every other weekend
• Charting System: Epic preferred
• Orientation: 36 hours
• Patient Population: Adolescents, adults, and geriatrics
• Location: New Haven, CT 06510

Job Requirements

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license eligible for Connecticut practice
• 1.5+ years of experience in a high-acuity emergency department, ED observation, or similar acute care setting preferred; 2 years preferred
• Experience caring for patients with a typical nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:6
• Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, TNCC or TNS, PALS, ENPC, NIHSS, and CPI
• Epic experience preferred
• Ability to work in a Level I trauma environment and adapt to changing patient needs
• Flu vaccine required
• Ability to work every other weekend and float within scope as needed

Responsibilities

• Provide skilled emergency nursing care in a non-admitted ED Observation Unit
• Assess, monitor, and manage patients with a variety of emergency and observation-level conditions
• Administer medications and perform high-acuity interventions as indicated
• Support care for patients with trauma, stroke, chest pain, psychiatric, and medical emergencies
• Collaborate with physicians, providers, and interdisciplinary team members to support safe, efficient patient flow
• Maintain accurate documentation in Epic and follow established clinical protocols
• Float within scope to meet facility needs and provide exceptional patient-centered care
