• Weekly Estimated Pay: $2,690–$2,830
• Schedule: Three 12-hour shifts per week; rotating days and nights
• Shift Times: Day shift, 7:00 a.m.–7:30 p.m.; night shift, 7:00 p.m.–7:30 a.m.
• Hours: Approximately 36 hours per week
• Float Expectation: Float across three affiliated San Francisco emergency departments; staff may be scheduled at a different campus for each shift
• Weekend Coverage: Weekend rotation required
• On-Call: Required

Emergency Department RN Job Requirements

• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in California
• At least 3 years of Emergency Department nursing experience
• Previous travel nursing experience required
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification
• National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
• Demonstrated ability to float between emergency departments and adapt quickly to changing patient-care needs
• Strong patient assessment, prioritization, communication, and clinical judgment skills

Emergency Nurse Responsibilities

• Provide direct emergency nursing care to patients across the lifespan, including neonates, infants, children, adolescents, adults, and older adults
• Use the nursing process to assess, plan, implement, evaluate, and continually reassess patient care
• Deliver care for a broad range of emergent conditions, including trauma, stroke, cardiac emergencies, respiratory illness, behavioral health concerns, overdose, burns, and multisystem conditions
• Perform and support emergency procedures such as triage, IV starts, phlebotomy, 12-lead ECG acquisition, procedural sedation monitoring, blood product administration, and management of central lines, arterial lines, chest tubes, ventilated patients, and infusions
• Recognize and respond to changes in patient condition, including dysrhythmias, seizures, respiratory compromise, shock, and other life-threatening emergencies
• Safely manage patients requiring isolation precautions, psychiatric holds, behavioral interventions, and suicide precautions
• Advocate for patients while coordinating care with physicians, advanced practice providers, and the interdisciplinary healthcare team
• Float between assigned emergency departments as needed and report to the designated campus for each shift
• Promote patient safety, quality outcomes, effective teamwork, and an exceptional patient care experience
