Travel Nursing Job Details

• Assignment Duration: 13 weeks, with longer contracts of up to 26 weeks available
• Healthcare Setting: Level I Trauma Center and Comprehensive Stroke Center
• Shift: Night shift, 7:00 p.m.–7:00 a.m.
• Shifts per Week: 3
• Shift Duration: 12 hours
• Hours per Week: 36
• Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
• Call Requirement: None
• Patient Ratios: Approximately 1:6
• Patient Population: Adolescents, adults, and geriatric patients
• Charting: Epic preferred
• Orientation: 48 hours
• Scheduling: Block scheduling may be accommodated based on department needs

Emergency Department RN Job Requirements

• At least 1.5 years of recent Emergency Department RN experience; 2 years is preferred
• Level I Trauma experience is required
• Active Connecticut Registered Nurse license, or license application in progress prior to submission and start date
• Current TNCC, ACLS, and BLS certifications required
• Experience caring for high-acuity emergency and trauma patients
• Ability to manage a patient assignment of approximately six patients
• Strong assessment, prioritization, communication, and crisis-management skills
• Willingness to cross-train and float within scope to other emergency care areas and campuses as needed
• Travel nursing experience is not required, though adaptability in a fast-paced setting is essential
• Local candidates within 75 miles are not eligible for this assignment

Emergency Room RN Responsibilities

• Provide safe, compassionate, and timely nursing care to patients presenting with emergent and complex conditions
• Assess, triage, monitor, and stabilize patients across a wide range of acuity levels
• Care for patients experiencing trauma, stroke, STEMI, respiratory distress, overdose, psychiatric emergencies, spinal cord injuries, traumatic brain injuries, and multisystem organ dysfunction
• Administer emergency medications, blood products, IV therapies, vasopressors, and continuous sedation as clinically indicated
• Manage ventilated patients, central lines, chest tubes, arterial lines, dysrhythmias, and other advanced emergency care needs
• Perform and interpret patient assessments, 12-lead EKGs, and relevant clinical data while escalating changes in condition
• Collaborate with providers, respiratory services, radiology, pharmacy, social services, interpretation services, and other members of the care team
• Support care for patients requiring suicide precautions, psychiatric holds, isolation precautions, or behavioral health interventions
• Document accurately in Epic and participate in ongoing unit education and orientation activities
• Float within scope to emergency observation and other designated emergency care areas to support patient care and department operations
