Emergency Department RN Travel Job Details

• Weekly Estimated Pay: $1,980–$2,080
• Assignment Type: 13-week travel nursing contract
• Location: New Haven, Connecticut
• Start Date: October 23, 2026
• End Date: January 22, 2027
• Schedule: 3 shifts per week, 12-hour day shifts
• Shift Hours: 7:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m.
• Hours: 36 hours per week
• Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
• Patient Ratios: Approximately 1:6
• Patient Population: Adolescents, infants, adults, pediatric, and geriatric patients
• Department Volume: Approximately 180 visits per day with 49 emergency department rooms
• Electronic Medical Record: Epic
• Call: Not required
• Additional Assignment Details: Cross-training and floating between nearby campuses may be required within the Registered Nurse’s scope of practice

Emergency Department Registered Nurse Requirements

• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in Connecticut, or a Connecticut license in process prior to submission
• At least 1 year of professional nursing experience; 2 years of emergency department nursing experience is preferred
• Candidates with approximately 1.5 years of emergency nursing experience may be considered when supported by comparable hospital, Level I trauma, or travel nursing experience
• Community hospital emergency department experience required
• Current ACLS, BLS, and TNCC certifications required
• Additional experience or certifications in PALS, NIHSS, CPI, or ENPC are beneficial
• Strong assessment, prioritization, emergency medication, IV access, dysrhythmia recognition, and critical-care skills
• Comfort caring for patients with medical, behavioral health, neurologic, respiratory, cardiac, and traumatic conditions
• Flu vaccination is required
• This is a travel nursing assignment; candidates residing within 75 miles of the assignment location are not eligible

Emergency Department RN Responsibilities

• Provide safe, compassionate emergency nursing care to adolescent, pediatric, adult, and geriatric patients
• Perform focused nursing assessments, identify changes in condition, and prioritize care in a fast-paced emergency department
• Administer emergency medications, blood products, IV therapies, procedural sedation, and other treatments according to clinical protocols
• Manage patients requiring oxygen therapy, BiPAP/CPAP, ventilator support, vasopressors, central-line care, and chest-tube monitoring
• Obtain and interpret 12-lead EKGs, recognize dysrhythmias, and respond appropriately to emergent cardiac and neurologic symptoms
• Support care for patients experiencing stroke symptoms, chest pain, seizures, overdose, behavioral health crises, respiratory illness, and multisystem conditions
• Collaborate with physicians, advanced practice providers, respiratory services, pharmacy, radiology, social services, and other members of the interdisciplinary healthcare team
• Document assessments, interventions, reassessments, and patient outcomes accurately in Epic
• Float and cross-train between campuses as needed while maintaining care within the RN’s scope of practice
• Participate in required weekend coverage and maintain dependable attendance throughout the travel nursing assignment
