Travel Nursing Job Details

• Contract Duration: 13 weeks, ending February 1, 2027
• Schedule: 3 shifts per week, 36 hours per week
• Shift Duration: 12-hour rotating shifts
• Shift Times: Day shifts, approximately 7:00 a.m.–7:30 p.m.; night shifts, approximately 7:00 p.m.–7:30 a.m.
• Assignment Structure: True float role across three nearby emergency department campuses; the assigned campus may vary by shift
• Additional Scheduling: Weekend rotation and on-call participation required
• Patient Population: Neonates, infants, children, adolescents, adults, and geriatric patients

Emergency Department RN Job Requirements

• At least 3 years of recent Emergency Department nursing experience
• Active California Registered Nurse (RN) license
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through AHA or ARC
• Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification through AHA or ARC
• Current Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification through AHA or ARC
• Current NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
• Previous travel nursing experience required
• Demonstrated ability to adapt quickly while floating between emergency department settings
• Strong communication, clinical judgment, teamwork, and patient advocacy skills

Emergency Room Nurse Responsibilities

• Provide direct emergency nursing care using assessment, planning, implementation, and continual reassessment.
• Care for patients with medical, surgical, pediatric, psychiatric, neurological, cardiac, respiratory, and traumatic conditions.
• Perform triage, focused assessments, reassessments, and timely escalation of changes in patient condition.
• Administer emergency medications, blood products, IV therapies, sedation, vasopressors, and continuous infusions as clinically indicated.
• Manage patients requiring ventilatory support, BiPAP/CPAP, airway interventions, arterial lines, central lines, chest tubes, and isolation precautions.
• Recognize and respond to time-sensitive emergencies including stroke, STEMI, seizures, overdose, burns, multisystem organ failure, spinal cord injury, and traumatic brain injury.
• Support care for patients experiencing behavioral health crises, suicidal ideation, acute psychosis, or violent behavior while maintaining a safe environment.
• Obtain and interpret 12-lead ECGs, monitor dysrhythmias, interpret arterial blood gases, and promptly communicate critical findings.
• Coordinate care with physicians, advanced practice providers, respiratory therapists, technicians, and other members of the interdisciplinary team.
• Float between assigned emergency department campuses as scheduled and maintain consistent standards of safe, high-quality care.
• Serve as a patient advocate while promoting clinical quality, safety, infection prevention, and compassionate service.
