Travel Nursing Job Details

• Weekly Estimated Pay: $2,130–$2,250
• Assignment Type: Travel Registered Nurse assignment
• Location: Madison, Wisconsin
• Start Date: November 9, 2026
• Duration: 13 weeks, through February 8, 2027
• Schedule: Three shifts per week; 36 hours per week
• Shift: 12-hour nights, 7:00 PM–7:30 AM
• Weekend Rotation: Every other weekend, with some holiday coverage
• Scheduling Flexibility: Four 12-hour shifts and Friday–Sunday block scheduling may be considered
• Patient Population: Adults and geriatric patients
• Patient Ratio: Approximately 1:2
• Unit Focus: Neurocritical care and comprehensive stroke services
• Float Requirement: Float to ICU and intermediate care patients as needed
• Local Candidate Policy: Candidates residing within 50 miles are not eligible

Travel RN Job Requirements

• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in Wisconsin or a compact state
• At least 2 years of acute care experience in the submitted specialty within the last 3 years
• Prior ICU nursing experience required; Neuro ICU or neurosurgical experience strongly preferred
• Experience caring for patients with stroke, subarachnoid or cerebral hemorrhage, status epilepticus, traumatic brain injury, spinal cord injury, and post-neurosurgical conditions
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications from the American Heart Association
• Epic electronic health record charting experience required
• Basic arrhythmia interpretation and telemetry experience required
• Experience with intracranial pressure monitoring, external ventricular drains, or ventriculostomy management required
• Ability to complete and pass a pre-start telemetry assessment
• Strong critical-thinking, patient assessment, communication, and interdisciplinary collaboration skills

Neuro ICU Registered Nurse Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing care to critically ill adult and geriatric patients in an 18-bed Neuro ICU
• Monitor and manage patients with acute stroke, hemorrhage, traumatic brain injury, spinal cord injury, status epilepticus, and post-neurosurgical conditions
• Assess neurological status and respond promptly to changes in intracranial pressure, cerebral perfusion, and overall patient condition
• Manage specialized equipment and therapies, including external ventricular drains, lumbar drains, ICP monitoring, ventilators, arterial lines, central lines, and hemodynamic monitoring systems
• Administer and titrate vasoactive, cardiac, sedative, paralytic, insulin, and other critical-care infusions according to established protocols
• Interpret cardiac rhythms and arterial blood gases while recognizing and responding to life-threatening dysrhythmias
• Collaborate with physicians, respiratory therapy, pharmacy, radiology, rehabilitation services, social services, and rapid response teams to coordinate patient care
• Document assessments, interventions, and patient responses accurately in Epic
• Float to designated critical care and intermediate care areas as needed while maintaining safe, high-quality patient care
