Travel Medical Assistant Job Details

• Weekly Estimated Pay: $870–$940
• Healthcare Setting: Adult outpatient surgical clinic
• Assignment Length: 13 weeks
• Start Date: October 12, 2026
• End Date: January 11, 2027
• Schedule: 5 shifts per week
• Shift Duration: 8-hour day shifts
• Hours: 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.
• Work Arrangement: On-site
• Charting System: Epic experience required

• Clinical Volume: Approximately 16 visits per day in a high-volume practice environment

Medical Assistant Job Requirements

• At least 2 years of recent Medical Assistant or medical office experience
• High school diploma or equivalent
• Current Basic Life Support certification at the start of the assignment; American Heart Association certification preferred
• Completion of a nationally recognized, accredited Medical Assistant program that includes a practicum or externship of at least 160 hours, or completion of a formal U.S. military medical services training program
• Alternatively, an Oregon Emergency Medical Technician license and national EMT registration may qualify
• Medical Assistant certification from a nationally recognized accredited certifying organization upon hire or within the applicable probationary period, when required by the qualifying pathway
• Recent Epic electronic medical record experience is required
• Strong communication, organization, attention to detail, and patient-service skills
• Ability to support clinical operations, maintain patient confidentiality, and work collaboratively with providers and multidisciplinary healthcare teams
• Flexibility to float to nearby affiliated locations or departments as needed

Medical Assistant Responsibilities

• Room patients, obtain vital signs, and support efficient patient flow
• Perform and document point-of-care testing and other clinical information in Epic
• Assist with procedures, treatments, wound care, and outpatient surgical support activities within the Medical Assistant scope of practice
• Manage in-basket messages and provide timely telephone communication with patients
• Coordinate appointment and surgical schedules, including schedule scrubbing and follow-up tasks
• Request and process medical records, authorization forms, and related documentation
• Complete insurance verification, specimen labeling, pharmacy calls, and patient refill requests
• Maintain stocked, organized, and properly prepared examination rooms
• Provide telephone triage and route patient concerns appropriately under clinical direction
• Communicate with efficiency, professionalism, and diplomacy while supporting providers, learners, and other members of the care team
• Follow established Medical Assistant standards of practice, safety procedures, and electronic documentation requirements
