Emergency Room Registered Nurse Job Requirements

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the applicable state
• At least 1 year of recent emergency department or emergency room nursing experience
• Current RN credentials in good standing
• Ability to work 12-hour night shifts and maintain a 36-hour weekly schedule
• Strong patient assessment, triage, prioritization, communication, and critical-thinking skills
• Commitment to safe, compassionate, and patient-centered emergency care

Emergency Nursing Responsibilities

• Assess, triage, and provide emergency nursing care to patients with urgent and emergent conditions
• Recognize changes in patient status and respond promptly to evolving clinical needs
• Administer medications and treatments safely according to established orders and protocols
• Monitor vital signs, pain levels, laboratory results, and patient responses to treatment
• Collaborate with physicians, advanced practice providers, and the interdisciplinary care team to develop and implement individualized care plans
• Document assessments, interventions, reassessments, and patient outcomes accurately in the electronic health record
• Provide patient education and emotional support to patients and their families
• Support efficient emergency department patient flow while maintaining high standards of nursing care
