Emergency Department Registered Nurse (RN) Travel Nursing Job – Madison, Wisconsin

Travel RN Job Details

• Location: Madison, Wisconsin 53792
• Weekly Estimated Pay: $2,070–$2,180
• Employment Type: Travel nursing contract
• Start Date: November 9, 2026
• Assignment End Date: February 8, 2027
• Contract Duration: 13 weeks
• Schedule: 3 shifts per week; 36 hours per week
• Shift Duration: 12-hour evening and night shifts
• Shift Times: 3:00 p.m.–3:30 a.m. or 7:00 p.m.–7:30 a.m.; 8-hour shifts may be assigned as needed
• Scheduling: Weekend and holiday rotation required
• Patient Population: Neonates, infants, children, adolescents, adults, and geriatric patients
• Patient Ratio: Approximately 1:4
• Emergency Department Environment: High-acuity, high-volume emergency care with approximately 200 visits per day
• Floating: Float to another local emergency department as needed

Emergency Department RN Qualifications

• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in Wisconsin or a valid compact RN license
• At least 2 years of Emergency Department nursing experience with both adult and pediatric patient populations within the last 3 years
• Previous travel nursing experience required
• Emergency Department experience in a Level II trauma setting required; Level I trauma experience preferred
• Experience in a high-volume emergency department, preferably with 40 or more beds
• Epic electronic medical record (EMR) experience required
• Current American Heart Association (AHA) certifications in BLS, ACLS, and PALS
• Current TNCC certification
• Successful completion of a telemetry examination before assignment clearance
• Applicants must live more than 50 miles from the assignment location to meet travel eligibility requirements
• Strong clinical judgment, adaptability, communication skills, and the ability to remain composed in urgent situations

Emergency Department RN Responsibilities

• Provide timely, evidence-based emergency nursing care to high-acuity adult and pediatric patients
• Perform rapid triage, focused assessments, reassessments, and prioritization of care
• Manage patients experiencing trauma, stroke, STEMI, respiratory failure, sepsis, overdose, psychiatric emergencies, burns, and other complex conditions
• Recognize and respond to changes in cardiac rhythms, including lethal dysrhythmias and heart blocks
• Administer emergency medications, blood products, IV therapies, sedation, and continuous infusions according to orders and protocols
• Support airway management, intubation, ventilated patients, BiPAP/CPAP therapy, chest tubes, central lines, arterial lines, and other emergency procedures
• Obtain and interpret 12-lead ECGs, monitor telemetry, and promptly communicate critical findings
• Assist with resuscitation, procedural sedation, trauma stabilization, and care coordination with physicians and specialty teams
• Collaborate with respiratory therapy, radiology, pharmacy, social services, rapid response teams, and other interdisciplinary partners
• Accurately document patient care in Epic while maintaining patient safety, privacy, and infection-prevention standards
• Float to another emergency department when needed and adapt quickly to changing patient-care demands
