Travel RN Job Requirements

• Minimum of 2 years of acute care Registered Nurse experience within the last 3 years, including recent ICU experience
• Neuro ICU, neurosurgical, or critical care nursing experience strongly preferred
• Active Wisconsin or compact Registered Nurse license
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications through the American Heart Association
• Epic electronic health record charting experience required
• Experience with basic arrhythmia interpretation, telemetry, intracranial pressure (ICP) monitoring, external ventricular drains (EVDs), and/or ventriculostomies
• Ability to care for ICU and intermediate-care patient populations and float as needed
• Successful completion of a pre-assignment telemetry examination is required. Passing standards include an overall score of at least 80%, accurate identification of lethal adult rhythms, and no errors on third-degree heart block questions.
• Travel nurses must meet the assignment's geographic eligibility requirements; applicants residing within 50 miles of the work location are not eligible.

Neuro ICU RN Responsibilities

• Deliver comprehensive critical care nursing to patients with ischemic stroke, hemorrhagic stroke, subarachnoid hemorrhage, status epilepticus, traumatic brain injury, spinal cord injury, and post-neurosurgical conditions.
• Monitor and manage patients following thrombectomy, thrombolysis, craniotomy, tumor resection, aneurysm clipping, and coiling procedures.
• Perform detailed neurological assessments and recognize changes in patient condition requiring immediate intervention.
• Manage specialized neurocritical care equipment and therapies, including external ventricular drains, lumbar drains, ICP monitoring, cerebral monitoring, ventilators, and high-flow oxygen systems.
• Provide hemodynamic monitoring and safely titrate vasoactive, cardiac, sedation, insulin, and other critical care infusions.
• Care for ventilated patients and manage central lines, arterial lines, PICC lines, chest tubes, blood products, and continuous neuromuscular blockade therapies.
• Interpret arterial blood gases (ABGs) and cardiac rhythms, manage dysrhythmias, and respond effectively to emergent changes in patient status.
• Collaborate with physicians and interdisciplinary team members to develop, implement, and evaluate individualized plans of care.
• Maintain accurate documentation in Epic while promoting infection prevention, patient safety, and evidence-based nursing practice.
