Med/Surg Tele Registered Nurse (RN) – Travel Nursing Contract in Castro Valley, CA

Travel Nursing Job Details

• Weekly Estimated Pay: $2,190-$2,310
• Location: Castro Valley, California
• Healthcare Setting: Medical-surgical and telemetry float pool
• Start Date: October 19, 2026
• Assignment Duration: 13 weeks, ending January 18, 2027
• Schedule: 3 shifts per week
• Shift: 12-hour nights, 7:30 PM-7:30 AM
• Weekend Coverage: Every other weekend; approximately 2 weekend shifts per pay period
• Holiday Coverage: Holiday coverage is required
• Patient Ratio: Approximately 1:5
• Patient Population: Adults and geriatric patients
• Orientation: 56 hours

Med/Surg Tele Registered Nurse Job Requirements

• At least 2 years of recent Registered Nurse experience in medical-surgical telemetry
• Active California Registered Nurse license
• Current ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS certifications from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross
• Previous experience with Epic charting is required
• Trauma Level II experience is required
• Ability to float among medical-surgical and telemetry units within scope of practice
• Strong telemetry, dysrhythmia interpretation, and acute-care assessment skills

Med/Surg Tele RN Responsibilities

• Provide safe, compassionate nursing care to adult and geriatric patients across medical-surgical and telemetry units
• Monitor patients using telemetry and interpret cardiac rhythms, recognizing and responding to changes in condition
• Manage patients with complex medical and surgical needs, including CVA, renal failure, spinal cord injury, traumatic brain injury, and orthopedic trauma
• Administer blood products, insulin protocols, heparin protocols, oxygen therapy, and other ordered treatments
• Provide care for central lines, PICC lines, chest tubes, feeding tubes, tracheostomies, surgical drains, and wound vacs
• Initiate and maintain peripheral IV access and perform phlebotomy as needed
• Support pre- and post-procedure care, including hemodialysis and neurosurgical patients
• Collaborate with respiratory therapy, pharmacy, radiology, physical therapy, social services, and rapid response teams
• Use appropriate isolation precautions and participate in rapid response and code team activities
• Document assessments, interventions, and patient progress accurately in Epic
