Travel Registered Nurse opportunity for an experienced Med/Surg Telemetry RN in Castro Valley, California. Travel Nursing Job Details

• Location: Castro Valley, California
• Assignment Type: 13-week travel nursing contract
• Start Date: October 19, 2026
• End Date: January 18, 2027
• Weekly Estimated Pay: $2,190–$2,310
• Schedule: 3 shifts per week, 12-hour night shifts
• Shift Hours: 7:30 p.m. – 7:30 a.m.
• Hours per Week: 36
• Patient Ratio: Approximately 1:5
• Healthcare Setting: Medical-surgical telemetry float pool
• Weekend Coverage: Every other weekend; approximately two weekend shifts per pay period
• Holiday Coverage: Holiday coverage may be required
• Orientation: 56 hours

Med/Surg Telemetry RN Job Requirements

• Active California Registered Nurse (RN) license
• At least 2 years of recent Registered Nurse experience, including medical-surgical telemetry experience
• Current ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS certifications from an accepted provider
• Trauma Level II experience required
• Recent experience using Epic or another electronic health record system; Epic experience preferred
• Strong telemetry monitoring and dysrhythmia interpretation skills
• Ability to float across multiple medical-surgical and telemetry units within scope of practice
• Experience caring for adult and geriatric patients
• Ability to provide two professional references obtained within the past year

Travel Nurse Responsibilities

• Provide safe, compassionate nursing care to adult and geriatric patients in medical-surgical and telemetry settings.
• Float among multiple units and adapt quickly to changing patient care assignments.
• Monitor telemetry, interpret dysrhythmias, and respond appropriately to changes in patient condition.
• Manage patients requiring oxygen therapy, high-flow nasal cannula, BiPAP, and CPAP within established protocols.
• Administer medications and manage insulin and heparin protocols according to clinical standards.
• Provide care for patients with cardiac, neurological, renal, orthopedic, surgical, and traumatic conditions.
• Perform central line, PICC, peripheral IV, feeding tube, tracheostomy, chest tube, surgical drain, and wound care.
• Administer blood products and provide pre- and post-hemodialysis care as indicated.
• Collaborate with respiratory therapy, physical therapy, pharmacy, radiology, social services, rapid response teams, and other members of the interdisciplinary care team.
• Accurately document assessments, interventions, and patient outcomes in Epic.
• Recognize clinical deterioration and participate in rapid response and code team activities when needed.
