Travel Nursing Job Details

• Weekly Estimated Pay: $2,190–$2,310
• Assignment Type: 13-week travel nursing contract
• Location: Castro Valley, California
• Start Date: October 19, 2026
• End Date: January 18, 2027
• Schedule: Three 12-hour night shifts per week
• Shift: Nights, approximately 7:30 PM–7:30 AM
• Weekly Hours: 36 hours
• Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend, including holiday coverage as scheduled
• Patient Population: Adults and geriatric patients
• Patient Ratio: Approximately 1:5
• Healthcare Setting: On-site Medical-Surgical/Telemetry Float Pool

Medical-Surgical/Telemetry RN Job Requirements

• Active California Registered Nurse (RN) license
• At least 2 years of recent Registered Nurse experience
• Recent Medical-Surgical nursing and Telemetry nursing experience
• Trauma Level II experience required
• Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications from an accepted provider
• Epic electronic medical record (EMR) charting experience required
• Demonstrated ability to float between multiple Medical-Surgical and Telemetry units within scope of practice
• Strong telemetry interpretation, clinical judgment, patient assessment, and communication skills

Travel Registered Nurse Responsibilities

• Provide safe, comprehensive nursing care to adult and geriatric patients across Medical-Surgical and Telemetry units.
• Float to multiple units and adapt quickly to changing patient populations, workflows, and staffing needs.
• Monitor cardiac rhythms, recognize dysrhythmias, and escalate changes in patient condition appropriately.
• Manage patients requiring telemetry monitoring, oxygen therapy, non-invasive airway support, high-flow nasal cannula, and other complex interventions.
• Administer medications, including insulin and heparin protocols, in accordance with established standards.
• Provide care related to central lines, PICC lines, chest tubes, surgical drains, feeding tubes, tracheostomies, wound vacs, and peripheral IV access.
• Support patients with conditions including CVA, renal failure, orthopedic trauma, spinal cord injury, traumatic brain injury, and post-surgical needs.
• Collaborate with respiratory therapy, physical therapy, pharmacy, radiology, social services, rapid response teams, and other interdisciplinary partners.
• Document assessments, interventions, and patient outcomes accurately in Epic.
• Respond effectively to changes in patient status and participate in rapid response and code team activities when needed.
