Travel Nursing Job Details

Med/Surg Tele Registered Nurse Job Requirements

• Current California Registered Nurse (RN) license
• At least 2 years of recent Med/Surg Tele nursing experience
• Experience caring for telemetry and medical-surgical patients
• Trauma Level II experience required
• Epic charting experience required
• Current ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS certifications
• Certifications must be current and issued by AHA or ARC
• Community hospital experience preferred
• Ability to float across multiple medical-surgical and telemetry units within scope of practice
• Strong assessment, prioritization, communication, and patient safety skills

Med/Surg Tele RN Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing care for adult and geriatric patients in medical-surgical and telemetry settings.
• Float between multiple units while adapting quickly to changing patient needs, workflows, and care teams.
• Monitor cardiac rhythms and recognize changes in patient condition, escalating concerns appropriately.
• Manage patients requiring oxygen therapy, high-flow nasal cannula, non-invasive airway support, BiPAP/CPAP, and tracheostomy care.
• Perform central line, PICC, peripheral IV, feeding tube, surgical drain, chest tube, wound, and wound-vac care.
• Administer blood products and medications, including management of heparin and insulin protocols as clinically indicated.
• Care for patients with stroke, renal failure, orthopedic trauma, spinal cord injury, traumatic brain injury, and post-surgical needs.
• Collaborate with physicians, respiratory therapy, physical therapy, pharmacy, radiology, social services, and rapid response teams.
• Document assessments, interventions, and outcomes accurately in Epic.
• Participate in rapid response and code team processes while maintaining a safe, patient-centered environment.
