Travel RN Job Details

• Weekly Estimated Pay: $2,190–$2,310
• Assignment Length: 13 weeks
• Start Date: October 19, 2026
• End Date: January 18, 2027
• Schedule: 3 shifts per week, 12-hour day shifts
• Shift Hours: 7:00 a.m.–7:30 p.m.
• Hours per Week: 36
• Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend; approximately two weekend shifts per pay period
• Holiday Coverage: Required as scheduled
• Patient Population: Adult and geriatric patients
• Typical Patient Assignment: 5 patients
• Charting System: Epic electronic health record (EHR)
• Healthcare Setting: On-site medical-surgical and telemetry float pool

Med/Surg Tele Registered Nurse Requirements

• Active California Registered Nurse (RN) license
• At least 2 years of recent Registered Nurse experience in medical-surgical and telemetry settings
• Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications from AHA or ARC
• Recent experience with Epic or another comparable electronic health record system
• Trauma Level II experience required
• Community hospital experience preferred
• Ability to float to multiple medical-surgical and telemetry units within scope of practice
• Strong patient assessment, prioritization, communication, and clinical judgment skills

Medical-Surgical and Telemetry RN Responsibilities

• Provide safe, comprehensive nursing care to adult and geriatric patients across medical-surgical and telemetry units.
• Monitor cardiac rhythms and recognize changes in patient condition, escalating concerns appropriately.
• Manage patients requiring oxygen therapy, high-flow nasal cannula, BiPAP/CPAP, telemetry, and non-invasive airway support.
• Administer medications and manage insulin and heparin protocols according to established standards.
• Provide central line, PICC line, peripheral IV, feeding tube, tracheostomy, surgical drain, chest tube, wound, and wound-vac care.
• Support patients with diagnoses and procedures involving stroke, renal failure, orthopedic trauma, spinal cord injury, traumatic brain injury, neurosurgery, and total joint replacement.
• Perform blood product administration, phlebotomy, IV initiation, and pre- and post-hemodialysis care as indicated.
• Collaborate with respiratory therapy, physical therapy, pharmacy, radiology, social services, rapid response teams, and other interdisciplinary partners.
• Respond effectively to changes in patient status and participate in rapid response and code team activities.
• Document assessments, interventions, patient responses, and care plans accurately in the electronic health record.
