Travel Nursing Job Details

• Position: Travel Registered Nurse (RN) – Med/Surg Telemetry Float Pool
• Location: Castro Valley, California
• Weekly Estimated Pay: $2,190–$2,310
• Contract Duration: 13 weeks
• Start Date: October 19, 2026
• Schedule: 36 hours per week; three 12-hour night shifts
• Shift: 7:30 p.m. to 7:30 a.m.
• Weekend Coverage: Every other weekend, including approximately two weekend shifts per pay period
• Holiday Coverage: Holiday coverage may be required
• Patient Population: Adults and geriatric patients
• Typical Assignment: Approximately five patients
• Documentation: Epic electronic health record (EHR)
• Orientation: 56 hours

Med/Surg Telemetry RN Job Requirements

• Current California Registered Nurse (RN) license
• At least 2 years of Registered Nursing experience, including medical-surgical and telemetry nursing experience
• Prior telemetry and float pool experience strongly preferred
• Trauma Level II experience required
• Community hospital experience preferred
• Current AHA or ARC BLS and ACLS certifications
• Current NIHSS certification
• Demonstrated proficiency with Epic or comparable electronic health record systems
• Ability to float across multiple medical-surgical and telemetry units within scope of practice

Travel Registered Nurse Responsibilities

• Provide safe, comprehensive nursing care to adult and geriatric patients in medical-surgical and telemetry settings
• Float among multiple units and adapt quickly to varying patient needs, workflows, and acuity levels
• Monitor and interpret cardiac rhythms, recognize dysrhythmias, and respond appropriately to changes in patient condition
• Manage patients requiring oxygen therapy, high-flow nasal cannula, BiPAP/CPAP, non-invasive airway support, and tracheostomy care
• Administer blood products and manage central lines, PICCs, peripheral IVs, feeding tubes, surgical drains, chest tubes, and wound vacs
• Apply clinical knowledge to patients with stroke, renal failure, spinal cord injuries, traumatic brain injuries, orthopedic trauma, and post-operative needs
• Follow heparin and insulin protocols, including titration of insulin infusions when indicated
• Complete medication administration, patient assessments, care planning, patient education, and accurate Epic documentation
• Collaborate with physical therapy, respiratory services, pharmacy, radiology, social services, rapid response teams, and other interdisciplinary partners
• Recognize patient deterioration and utilize rapid response and code team resources when necessary
