Travel Med/Surg Tele Registered Nurse (RN) – 13-Week Contract

Travel RN Job Details

• Setting: On-site hospital environment; medical-surgical and telemetry units

• Contract Duration: 13 weeks, ending January 18, 2027
• Shifts per Week: 3
• Shift Duration: 12-hour day shifts
• Schedule: 7:00 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.; every other weekend rotation and holiday coverage required
• Patient Ratio: Approximately 1:5
• Patient Population: Adults and geriatrics
• Orientation: 56 hours

Travel Registered Nurse Requirements

• At least 2 years of recent Registered Nurse experience in medical-surgical and telemetry nursing
• Active California Registered Nurse license
• Current ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS certifications from AHA or ARC
• Trauma Level II experience required
• Experience with Epic electronic medical records required
• Ability to float between multiple medical-surgical and telemetry units within scope of practice
• Strong telemetry interpretation and dysrhythmia management skills
• Ability to work day shifts, every other weekend, and required holidays

Med/Surg Tele RN Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing care to adult and geriatric patients across medical-surgical and telemetry units
• Monitor patients, interpret cardiac rhythms, and recognize changes in clinical condition
• Manage complex patients and treatments, including oxygen therapy, BiPAP/CPAP, high-flow nasal cannula, insulin protocols, and heparin protocols
• Provide central line, PICC line, peripheral IV, chest tube, tracheostomy, feeding tube, surgical drain, and wound care
• Administer blood products and medications safely while following established protocols
• Care for patients with conditions including stroke, renal failure, orthopedic trauma, spinal cord injury, traumatic brain injury, and post-neurosurgical needs
• Perform patient assessments, medication administration, documentation, and care coordination using Epic
• Collaborate with respiratory services, physical therapy, pharmacy, radiology, social services, rapid response teams, and other interdisciplinary partners
• Respond effectively to changes in patient status and participate in rapid response and code team procedures when needed
