Travel Nursing Job Details

• Location: Charlottesville, Virginia
• Weekly Estimated Pay: $1,840–$1,940
• Assignment: 13-week Labor & Delivery travel nurse contract
• Start Date: October 12, 2026
• End Date: January 11, 2027
• Schedule: 3 shifts per week, 36 hours per week
• Shift: 12-hour nights, 7:00 p.m.–7:00 a.m.
• Unit: Labor & Delivery
• Patient Ratios: Approximately 1:2 on days, nights, and weekends
• Unit Environment: Approximately 2,000 annual deliveries, with private labor rooms, triage beds, and dedicated obstetric operating rooms
• Scheduling: Every other weekend and holiday rotation; approximately 6–7 weekend shifts during the assignment
• Floating: Cross-training to Mother/Baby and floating to NICU feeder/grower assignments may be required

Travel Registered Nurse Job Requirements

• At least 2 years of recent Labor & Delivery registered nursing experience
• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license; Virginia RN license required by the specified pre-start deadline. Pending Virginia licenses may be considered.
• Current BLS, ACLS, NRP, AWHONN Intermediate, and fetal monitoring certifications
• Proficiency with Epic electronic health records (EHR)
• Demonstrated experience with fetal monitoring, high-risk antepartum care, obstetric triage, newborn assessment, and postpartum hemorrhage management
• Experience with magnesium sulfate therapy, IV initiation and maintenance, and recognition and treatment of abnormal fetal heart rate patterns
• Ability to circulate Cesarean sections and support obstetric operating room procedures
• BSN preferred
• Ability to work night shifts, rotating weekends, and holidays as scheduled

Labor & Delivery Registered Nurse Responsibilities

• Provide safe, evidence-based nursing care for patients in labor, delivery, recovery, and the antepartum setting.
• Care for both low-risk and high-risk obstetric populations, including patients with preeclampsia, eclampsia, diabetes, hypertension, preterm labor, fetal anomalies, and other maternal or fetal complications.
• Perform obstetric triage, comprehensive maternal assessments, fetal monitoring, and timely escalation of changes in patient or fetal condition.
• Circulate Cesarean sections and assist with procedures such as cerclage and bilateral tubal ligation.
• Support OB recovery and postpartum care, including recognition and treatment of postpartum hemorrhage.
• Administer medications and therapies safely, including magnesium sulfate and insulin infusions when indicated.
• Provide immediate newborn assessment and neonatal resuscitation support within scope and competency.
• Cross-train and float to Mother/Baby and NICU feeder/grower assignments, providing routine care, feeding support, medication administration, and prompt communication of newborn concerns.
• Collaborate with physicians, certified nurse midwives, maternal-fetal medicine specialists, respiratory services, pharmacy, laboratory, radiology, and other members of the interdisciplinary care team.
• Maintain accurate documentation in Epic and follow unit policies, safety standards, and patient-centered care practices.
