Med-Surg Telemetry Registered Nurse (RN) – California Travel Nursing Contract

Travel Nursing Job Details

• Weekly Estimated Pay: $2,190–$2,310
• Location: Castro Valley, California
• Start Date: October 19, 2026
• Contract Duration: 13 weeks
• Schedule: 3 shifts per week
• Shift: 12-hour day shifts, 7:00 a.m.–7:30 p.m.
• Weekend Commitment: Every other weekend, including holiday coverage as scheduled
• Patient Population: Adults and geriatrics
• Typical Patient Ratio: 1 nurse to 5 patients
• Charting: Epic
• Orientation: 56 hours

Med-Surg Telemetry RN Requirements

• At least 2 years of recent Registered Nurse experience in medical-surgical and telemetry settings
• Current California Registered Nurse license
• Current ACLS and BLS certifications from AHA or ARC
• NIHSS certification
• Experience with telemetry monitoring and interpretation of dysrhythmias
• Epic charting experience
• Trauma Level II experience required; community hospital experience preferred
• Ability to float between medical-surgical and telemetry units within scope of practice

Med-Surg Telemetry Registered Nurse Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing care for adult and geriatric medical-surgical and telemetry patients
• Float among multiple inpatient units while maintaining safe, adaptable, and patient-centered care
• Monitor cardiac rhythms and respond appropriately to changes in patient condition
• Manage patients requiring oxygen therapy, high-flow nasal cannula, BiPAP/CPAP, tracheostomy care, and non-invasive airway support
• Administer blood products and manage heparin and insulin protocols according to policy
• Provide central line, PICC, peripheral IV, feeding tube, chest tube, surgical drain, wound, and wound-vac care
• Support patients with conditions including CVA, renal failure, spinal cord injury, traumatic brain injury, orthopedic trauma, and post-neurosurgical needs
• Initiate IVs, perform phlebotomy, and collaborate with rapid response, respiratory therapy, pharmacy, radiology, rehabilitation, social services, and other members of the care team
• Document assessments, interventions, and patient outcomes accurately in Epic
