Travel Nursing Job Details

• Location: Charlottesville, Virginia
• Assignment Type: 13-week travel registered nurse assignment
• Start Date: October 12, 2026
• End Date: January 11, 2027
• Weekly Estimated Pay: $1,840–$1,940
• Schedule: Night shifts, 7:00 PM–7:00 AM; 36 or 48 hours per week based on scheduling needs
• Weekend and Holiday Coverage: Every other weekend and every other holiday; must work two of the three winter holidays
• Orientation: 36 hours, including one 12-hour clinical orientation shift
• Patient Ratios: Typically 1:2 on days, nights, and weekends
• Unit Environment: Approximately 10 patients daily, with 8 private labor rooms, 4 private triage beds, and 2 OB operating rooms
• Floating: May float within scope of practice to Mother/Baby and stable NICU feeder-grower assignments

Travel RN Job Requirements

• At least 2 years of recent Labor & Delivery registered nursing experience
• Active Virginia RN license; pending license candidates may be considered if the license is active by the required pre-start deadline
• Current BLS, ACLS, NRP, and AWHONN Intermediate certifications
• Fetal monitoring proficiency
• Current Epic charting experience
• Demonstrated experience caring for high-risk antepartum and postpartum patients
• Strong knowledge of neonatal resuscitation, newborn assessment, abnormal fetal heart rate recognition, and postpartum hemorrhage response
• BSN preferred
• Ability to provide required references and certification documentation

Labor & Delivery RN Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing care to antepartum, laboring, postpartum, and high-risk obstetric patients
• Perform obstetric triage and assess patients presenting with urgent or emergent concerns
• Monitor maternal and fetal status, recognize abnormal fetal heart rate patterns, and initiate appropriate interventions
• Care for patients with conditions including preeclampsia, eclampsia, gestational or chronic hypertension, diabetes, preterm labor, fetal anomalies, obesity, and other maternal comorbidities
• Circulate for Cesarean sections and support OB operating room procedures, including cerclage and bilateral tubal ligation
• Provide OB PACU recovery care and assist with postoperative assessments
• Administer and monitor magnesium sulfate therapy, insulin infusions, medications, and intravenous therapies as ordered
• Support newborn assessment, neonatal resuscitation, and care for stable NICU feeder-grower infants when assigned
• Collaborate with physicians, certified nurse midwives, maternal-fetal medicine specialists, respiratory services, pharmacy, radiology, and other interdisciplinary teams
• Document accurately in Epic while maintaining safe, compassionate, patient-centered care
