Ultrasound Technologist Job Details

• Weekly Estimated Pay: $2,270–$2,440
• Location: San Mateo, California
• Healthcare Setting: Hospital
• Assignment Dates: October 19, 2026 – January 18, 2027
• Contract Duration: 13 weeks
• Schedule: Monday–Friday; 5 shifts per week
• Shift: 8-hour days, either 8:00 a.m.–4:30 p.m. or 7:45 a.m.–4:15 p.m.
• Hours: 40 hours per week
• Call: No call required

Diagnostic Medical Sonographer Job Requirements

• At least 2 years of recent, relevant experience as an Ultrasound Technologist or Diagnostic Medical Sonographer
• ARDMS certification
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification for healthcare providers
• At least two of the following specialty certifications or credentials: Abdomen, Breast, Fetal Echocardiography, Obstetrics and Gynecology, Pediatric Sonography, or Registered Vascular Technician
• Intermediate knowledge of diagnostic sonography principles, procedures, views, equipment, anatomy, physiology, pathology, and medical terminology
• Ability to recognize, prioritize, and communicate suspicious or abnormal findings appropriately
• Strong written and verbal communication, organization, time management, and patient service skills
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively while managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced hospital environment
• Working knowledge of electronic health records, radiology information systems, picture archiving and communication systems, and standard office applications

Ultrasound Technologist Responsibilities

• Perform routine and specialized sonographic examinations of moderate complexity
• Operate ultrasound equipment safely and effectively to obtain clear, diagnostic-quality images
• Apply sound clinical judgment during challenging examinations, traumas, and hospital emergencies
• Assess patients, explain procedures, provide attentive monitoring, and promote patient comfort and cooperation
• Recognize and communicate significant or abnormal results to physicians and other appropriate healthcare providers
• Complete examinations accurately and efficiently while following department procedures and established clinical standards
• Protect patient privacy and comply with applicable safety, regulatory, and quality requirements
• Collaborate with the healthcare team to support diagnosis, treatment, monitoring, and prevention of disease or injury
• Assist with department procedures and help orient or support other staff members when needed
