Travel Nursing Job Details

• Location: Castro Valley, California
• Schedule: 3 shifts per week, 12-hour nights
• Shift Hours: 7:30 p.m. – 7:30 a.m.
• Hours per Week: 36
• Contract Duration: 13 weeks
• Start Date: October 19, 2026
• End Date: January 18, 2027
• Weekly Estimated Pay: $2,190–$2,310
• Healthcare Setting: On-site Med/Surg and Telemetry float pool
• Patient Population: Adult and geriatric patients
• Patient Ratio: Approximately 1:5
• Weekend Coverage: Every other weekend, with approximately two weekend shifts per pay period
• Holiday Coverage: Holiday coverage may be required

Med/Surg Tele Registered Nurse Requirements

• Minimum of 2 years of recent Registered Nurse experience in medical-surgical and telemetry nursing
• Valid California Registered Nurse license
• Current ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS certifications; certifications must be from AHA or ARC
• Telemetry monitoring and cardiac dysrhythmia interpretation experience
• Epic electronic health record charting experience required
• Trauma Level II experience required
• Ability to float to multiple medical-surgical and telemetry units within scope of practice
• Strong patient assessment, prioritization, communication, and clinical decision-making skills

Registered Nurse Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing care for adult and geriatric patients in medical-surgical and telemetry settings.
• Monitor cardiac rhythms, recognize dysrhythmias, and respond appropriately to changes in patient condition.
• Manage patients requiring oxygen therapy, BiPAP/CPAP, high-flow nasal cannula, tracheostomy care, and other non-invasive airway support.
• Administer medications and follow insulin, heparin, PCA, and other applicable clinical protocols.
• Provide care for central lines, PICC lines, peripheral IVs, chest tubes, feeding tubes, surgical drains, wounds, and wound vacuums.
• Support patients with complex conditions, including stroke, renal failure, spinal cord injury, traumatic brain injury, orthopedic trauma, and post-surgical needs.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, including respiratory therapy, pharmacy, radiology, physical therapy, social services, and rapid response teams.
• Accurately document assessments, interventions, and patient outcomes in Epic.
• Participate in rapid response and code team procedures while promoting safe, evidence-based patient care.
