Cardiac Sonographer Job Details

• Location: Richland, Washington
• Healthcare Setting: Hospital-based echocardiography and cardiac imaging
• Assignment Type: 13-week travel contract
• Start Date: October 26, 2026
• End Date: January 25, 2027
• Weekly Estimated Pay: $2,020–$2,170
• Schedule: Four 10-hour day shifts per week, generally 7:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.; exact hours may vary
• Hours: Approximately 40 hours per week
• Weekend Coverage: Rotating weekends
• Call: May be required after 5:30 p.m. through 7:00 a.m., based on department needs
• Patient Ratio: 1:1
• Orientation: 40 hours

Echo Tech / Cardiac Sonographer Requirements

• At least 2 years of experience as an Echo Tech, Echocardiography Technologist, or Cardiac Sonographer
• Experience performing both adult and pediatric echocardiograms
• Required certifications: BLS and either CCI RCS or RDCS, with an accepted specialty credential
• Current applicable state licensure or credentialing in good standing, as required for practice
• Experience with Epic and electronic clinical documentation
• Proficiency with 2-D and 3-D echocardiography, M-mode, color Doppler, continuous-wave Doppler, and pulsed-wave Doppler
• Experience with routine, portable, inpatient, outpatient, emergency department, and ICU cardiac imaging studies
• TEE and stress echocardiography experience preferred
• Strong understanding of cardiac anatomy, congenital heart conditions, complex anomalies, and post-surgical repairs
• Ability to work collaboratively with physicians, nurses, and multidisciplinary healthcare teams

Cardiac Sonographer Responsibilities

• Perform diagnostic echocardiographic examinations for neonates, infants, children, adolescents, adults, and geriatric patients
• Complete adult and pediatric acute-care and outpatient cardiac imaging studies
• Perform routine and portable echocardiograms for patients in inpatient units, the ICU, and emergency department
• Conduct and assist with TEE, pharmacologic stress echo, and treadmill stress echo procedures as assigned
• Obtain high-quality images using 2-D, 3-D, M-mode, color Doppler, continuous-wave Doppler, and pulsed-wave Doppler techniques
• Evaluate complex congenital and structural cardiac conditions, including vascular rings, anomalous coronary arteries, ventricular outflow abnormalities, Tetralogy of Fallot, transposition of the great vessels, and post-surgical repairs
• Use contrast agents and follow appropriate isolation and personal protective equipment procedures when indicated
• Document exams accurately in Epic and related imaging systems, including PACS
• Provide compassionate patient care while maintaining safety, privacy, and professional standards
• Participate in rotating weekend coverage and call responsibilities as scheduled
