Travel Nursing Job Details

• Weekly Estimated Pay: $1,400–$1,470
• Location: Seward, Alaska
• Assignment Type: Long-term care travel contract

• Shift Duration: 12-hour shifts
• Shifts per Week: 4
• Schedule: Variable day or night shifts; clinicians are generally assigned to either days or nights rather than rotating between both
• Shift Times: Days approximately 7:00 a.m.–7:30 p.m.; nights approximately 7:00 p.m.–7:30 a.m.
• Patient Ratio: Approximately 1:20
• Call: Not required
• Charting: Electronic clinical documentation system
• Floating: May be required within the LPN’s scope of practice to support nearby care needs

Travel LPN Job Requirements

• At least 1 year of professional Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) experience
• Previous travel nursing experience required; first-time travelers are not accepted
• Recent long-term care, skilled nursing, or long-term acute care experience required
• Valid Alaska LPN license in hand at the time of submission; pending licenses are not accepted
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
• Experience with electronic clinical documentation
• Proficiency with vital-sign monitoring, blood glucose testing, oxygen administration, enteral tube care, Foley catheter care, medication administration, isolation precautions, wound care, and patient mobility support
• Ability to care for residents with dementia, Alzheimer’s disease, traumatic brain injuries, cognitive impairments, physical impairments, and other long-term care diagnoses
• Ability to obtain the Alaska Food Worker Certification during on-site orientation
• Two professional references covering recent clinical experience may be required during the compliance process

Long-Term Care LPN Responsibilities

• Provide safe, compassionate, and individualized nursing care to long-term care residents
• Complete admissions, assessments, medication administration, treatments, and ongoing monitoring within LPN scope of practice
• Monitor and communicate changes in resident condition to the supervising registered nurse and appropriate medical providers
• Perform blood glucose checks, administer injections, provide respiratory treatments, and support oxygen therapy
• Provide PEG/G-tube feedings and care, Foley catheter care, wound care, oral care, bathing, feeding, and assistance with activities of daily living
• Perform phlebotomy and other permitted clinical procedures according to policy and resident needs
• Use lifts, Sara Steady equipment, glucose monitors, vital-sign machines, EKG equipment, and other supportive devices safely
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members, residents, and families to promote continuity and quality of care
• Float within scope of practice when needed and support the team during periods of increased census or staffing needs
