Travel LPN Job Details

• Schedule: 4 shifts per week; 12-hour shifts
• Shift Options: Days, 7:00 a.m.–7:30 p.m., or nights, 7:00 p.m.–7:30 a.m.; final shift assignment is based on staffing needs
• Hours: 36 hours per week
• Patient Ratio: Approximately 1:20
• Healthcare Setting: Long-term care facility with approximately 40 residents
• Charting System: ECS
• Call: Not required
• Floating: May be required within the LPN scope of practice to support nearby care locations and staffing needs

Licensed Practical Nurse Job Requirements

• Current Alaska LPN or LVN license in hand at the time of submission; pending licensure is not accepted
• At least 1 year of professional LPN/LVN experience
• Previous travel nursing experience required
• Recent long-term care, skilled nursing, nursing home, or LTAC experience required
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
• Experience caring for residents with dementia, Alzheimer’s disease, traumatic brain injuries, cognitive impairments, physical impairments, and other long-term care needs
• Proficiency with electronic charting and clinical documentation
• Ability to obtain the Alaska Food Worker Certification during on-site orientation
• Willingness to work at least 2 of the 3 major winter holidays during the assignment
• Ability to provide two professional references covering at least one year of experience within the past three years

Long-Term Care LPN Responsibilities

• Provide safe, compassionate, and individualized nursing care to long-term care residents
• Complete comprehensive assessments, admission activities, ongoing monitoring, and timely nursing documentation
• Monitor and report changes in resident condition to the appropriate nurse or provider
• Administer oral, intramuscular, and subcutaneous medications according to established orders and policies
• Perform vital sign monitoring, blood glucose checks, and related clinical assessments
• Provide care for feeding tubes, including PEG and G-tube management and feedings
• Perform Foley catheter care and insertion, oxygen administration, respiratory treatments, and isolation precautions
• Assist with wound care, rehabilitation activities, ambulation, bathing, feeding, and mouth care
• Support IV hydration as needed, phlebotomy lab draws, and other procedures within scope and competency
• Use lifts, glucose monitors, vital sign equipment, pacemaker transmitters, EKG equipment, and other clinical devices safely
• Collaborate with the interdisciplinary care team, residents, and families to promote comfort, safety, and quality of life
• Float within scope of practice when needed to meet resident care and staffing requirements
