Travel Emergency Room Registered Nurse (RN) – 12-Week Contract in Glen Burnie, MD

Join a fast-paced travel nursing opportunity for an experienced Emergency Room RN in Glen Burnie, Maryland, near Baltimore and the Chesapeake Bay region. This on-site Emergency Department (ED) nursing job is ideal for a clinician who enjoys caring for patients across the lifespan, managing complex presentations, and collaborating in a high-volume, non-trauma emergency setting.

Travel Nursing Job Details

• Weekly Estimated Pay: $2,000–$2,110
• Location: Glen Burnie, Maryland
• Start Date: October 19, 2026
• Contract Length: 12 weeks
• Schedule: 3 shifts per week, 36 hours per week
• Shift: 12-hour nights, 7:00 p.m.–7:30 a.m.
• Patient Population: Neonates, infants, children, adolescents, adults, and geriatric patients
• Patient Ratio: Typically 1:4, with assignments up to 1:5 based on acuity
• Department Volume: Approximately 200 visits per day across 66 rooms
• Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
• Holiday Requirement: Holidays as scheduled
• Floating: Within the emergency specialty, including the emergency observation/hold area as needed
• On-Call: No prescheduled on-call shifts

Emergency Room RN Job Requirements

• At least 2 years of recent Emergency Room RN or Emergency Department RN experience required
• Strong emergency department experience required; first-time travel nurses are welcome
• Active Maryland RN license or Compact RN license at the time of submission
• Current BLS, ACLS, PALS, NIHSS, and CPI certifications required
• Community hospital experience required
• EPIC charting experience preferred
• Previous charge nurse experience preferred
• Ability to float within scope of practice and support the emergency observation/hold area
• Comfort caring for patients with a wide range of medical, surgical, behavioral health, and emergent conditions

Emergency Department RN Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive emergency nursing care in a high-volume, non-trauma Emergency Room
• Perform triage, focused assessments, reassessments, and timely escalation of changes in patient condition
• Care for patients from neonatal through geriatric age groups with diverse and complex diagnoses
• Manage emergency medications, IV therapies, blood products, central lines, arterial lines, chest tubes, and ventilated patients
• Monitor and respond to dysrhythmias, stroke symptoms, STEMI concerns, respiratory emergencies, overdoses, psychiatric crises, and multisystem conditions
• Assist with airway management, procedural sedation monitoring, BiPAP/CPAP, IV insulin protocols, and vasopressor therapy
• Obtain and interpret 12-lead ECGs and arterial blood gases while recognizing changes requiring immediate intervention
• Apply appropriate isolation, safety, de-escalation, and behavioral health precautions
• Collaborate with physicians, respiratory services, radiology, pharmacy, laboratory, IV teams, and other interdisciplinary partners
• Accurately document care in EPIC and promote safe transitions throughout the Emergency Department and observation area
