ICU Registered Nurse (RN) – Night Shift Travel Nursing Contract in Athens, Texas

ICU Travel Nurse Job Details

• Location: Athens, Texas
• Weekly Estimated Pay: $1,530–$1,610
• Assignment Type: 13-week ICU travel nursing contract
• Start Date: October 19, 2026
• End Date: January 18, 2027
• Schedule: Three 12-hour night shifts per week, 7:00 p.m.–7:00 a.m.; 36-hour schedule with a 48-hour option available
• Unit: Adult MICU/SICU/CCU/ICU
• Patient Ratio: 1:2
• Unit Capacity: 10 beds with an average daily census of approximately 8 patients
• Weekend Coverage: Required
• Orientation: 24 hours
• Charting: Epic

ICU Registered Nurse Requirements

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Texas or a compact state; license must be in hand at submission
• At least 2 years of recent ICU or critical care nursing experience
• Previous travel nursing experience required
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications
• NIHSS certification preferred
• TNCC certification preferred
• Recent experience caring for mechanically ventilated patients and managing complex, high-acuity conditions
• Ability to document accurately in Epic and collaborate effectively with an interdisciplinary care team
• All requested time off must be identified at the time of submission; travel eligibility may be subject to regional residency restrictions

Critical Care RN Responsibilities

• Deliver comprehensive nursing care to adult and geriatric patients in a high-acuity ICU setting
• Assess, monitor, and manage patients with acute and chronic renal failure, stroke, multisystem organ dysfunction, and complex medical or surgical conditions
• Provide care for mechanically ventilated patients, including ventilator management and ETT or nasotracheal suctioning
• Manage arterial lines, central lines, PICC lines, ports, and pulmonary artery or Swan-Ganz monitoring
• Titrate cardiac, vasoactive, sedation, insulin, and other critical care infusions according to established protocols
• Interpret arterial blood gases and cardiac rhythms while responding promptly to changes in patient condition
• Administer blood products and provide pre- and post-procedure care for cardiac catheterization and interventions
• Support chest tube care, BiPAP/CPAP, high-flow nasal cannula therapy, procedural sedation monitoring, and infection prevention practices
• Coordinate care with respiratory therapy, pharmacy, radiology, physical therapy, social services, phlebotomy, interpretation services, and rapid response teams
• Maintain accurate clinical documentation and promote safe, evidence-based patient care
