Travel RN Job Details

• Weekly Estimated Pay: $2,000–$2,110
• Assignment Length: 13 weeks
• Start Date: October 19, 2026, or as soon as possible
• End Date: January 18, 2027
• Schedule: 3 shifts per week, 12 hours per shift; approximately 36 hours per week
• Shift: Primarily days, with rotating mid shifts as department needs require; day shifts are approximately 7:00 a.m.–7:30 p.m. and mid shifts are approximately 11:00 a.m.–11:30 p.m.
• Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
• Holiday Requirement: Holidays as scheduled
• Patient Population: Adult, pediatric, adolescent, infant, neonatal, and geriatric patients
• Department Profile: Approximately 90 visits per day, with 32 rooms and 36 beds
• Patient Assignment: Typically 1:4, up to 1:5 for lower-acuity patients
• Floating: Required within the emergency department specialty and to other nearby emergency department locations as needed
• Call: No prescheduled on-call shifts required

Travel ER Registered Nurse Job Requirements

• At least 2 years of recent emergency room or emergency department nursing experience
• Active Maryland or Compact Registered Nurse license
• Current AHA BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications
• Current NIHSS certification
• CPI certification, or completion of the required on-site CPI training during onboarding
• Previous charge nurse experience
• Experience caring for approximately four emergency patients at a time
• Epic electronic health record charting experience
• Community hospital experience
• Strong clinical skills in combined adult and pediatric emergency care
• Ability to work rotating day and mid shifts, weekends, holidays, and float assignments as needed

Emergency Department RN Responsibilities

• Provide safe, comprehensive emergency nursing care in a fast-paced, high-volume department.
• Assess, triage, prioritize, and care for patients with complex and multisystem conditions across the lifespan.
• Manage emergency presentations including chest pain, stroke symptoms, respiratory infections, asthma, seizures, overdose, acute psychosis, suicidal ideation, sickle cell crisis, hyperglycemia, and traumatic or acute medical conditions.
• Perform and interpret 12-lead EKGs, monitor dysrhythmias, and respond to STEMI and stroke emergencies.
• Administer emergency medications, blood products, IV medications, vasopressors, sedation, and other therapies within scope and department policy.
• Care for ventilated patients and patients requiring BiPAP/CPAP, continuous sedation, or other advanced respiratory support.
• Initiate and maintain IV access, perform phlebotomy, manage central lines and chest tubes, and assist with intubation and procedural sedation.
• Apply isolation precautions, identify and report suspected abuse or neglect, and support patients experiencing behavioral health crises.
• Collaborate with physicians, respiratory services, radiology, pharmacy, social services, interpretation services, and other members of the interdisciplinary team.
• Document accurately in Epic and provide clear communication during handoffs and transitions of care.
• Serve as a charge nurse when assigned and float within the emergency nursing specialty as required.
